The Portuguese parliament has officially revoked the extraordinary tax on local accommodation properties, also known as CEAL (“Contribuição Extraordinária do Alojamento Local”).
This tax was part of the controversial “Mais Habitação” (More Housing) program introduced by the previous government.
The repeal is a significant relief for local accommodation (AL) business owners, a sentiment echoed by the Association of Local Accommodation in Portugal (ALEP). ALEP has publicly welcomed the decision, highlighting the positive impact it will have on the industry.
